Valparaiso, Chile

23.2.08 Valparaiso, Chile

My Chemical Romancen paidat oli aika monella päällä. Yritettiin huudella siinä, että ”ei ei, me ollaan ihan väärä bändi...”No ei vaines..mutta siis uusi päivä, uusi bändi. Näin se on.

Ajomatka Valparaisoon kesti about tunnin ja rapiat. Voihan se tauti tulla kenelle ja koska tahansa, mutta ”so far so good.” Että ”no hard feelings” vaan.

No eihän tuollaisessa huoneessa uskalla säilyttää mitään. No, huoltomies tuli korjaamaan lukkoa. Huoltomies ”korjasi” lukon.

Elvis is in the house. Eihän tällaista ole missään! Nyt täytyy muuten samaan hengenvetoon kehua lämppäribandiä Alejandro Silvaa. Kaveri soittaa instrumentaali kitaramatskua. Vähän niinkuin miekkii..On kova nimittäin pistämään.

Aivan mahtava meininki.

No, päästyämme takaisin hotellille oveni lukko oli edelleen korjaamatta.

02/23/08 Valparaiso, Chile

At noon we left from the hotel. We saw the fans were still gathered to the street in front of the hotel. We drove pass the fans in shuttles. We noticed that they are not our fans at all. They were wearing My Chemical Romance shirts. I don´t know if there were our fans at all, but some of them actually waved at us. We tried to shout at them that “no no, we are the wrong band”. Just kidding, but like a new day, a new band. That´s how it goes.

The drive to Valparaiso was like an hour. We saw quite much vine ranches and mountains. We drove through a quite long tunnel also. We got to the hotel and our technicians went to build the stage. We did go to have a lunch in a hotel´s restaurant. I didn´t actually understood so much about the menu because I don´t speak Spanish. The only thing I understood was like 250 g. file. I took that. I was hoping it would be some kind of beef. It was a real nice steak with fries. Yeah, French fries..When you are abroad you can get sick. Like a food poisoning. The last time we were in Mexico I had this Montezuma´s revenge. A terrible diarrhea. It wasn´t so funny. Since then I´ve been really careful of what I eat. I know, it can happen to anyone in any place, but you know so far so good. Actually the food was really good in Mexico like here in Chile also. So, no hard feelings to you Mexicans.

I noticed that the lock of my room´s door was broken. It locked alright but just by twisting the handle a little bit you could open the door by pushing. The hotel was booked full so I couldn´t change my room. I mean you can´t really keep your stuff in a room like this. I don´t have so much valuable things with me. Mainly dirty underwear. But you know like my passport, a laptop and a phone to give you an example. Ok, the maintenance guy showed up to fix the lock. The maintenance guy fixed the lock, right? He didn´t speak any English. After a while he showed me that now it´s ok, see? Or si? I just grabbed the door knob and opened the locked door without any key or anything and said like “no, I´m not sure we are quite there yet”. The man confessed that “si, I think you´re right.” (That´s what I think he said because I don´t understood the words but obviously..) I think he said something like we will fix this. Soon. Someday. Maybe. You know, just hang in there buddy. Well, I took my stuff to Marko´s room. But the internet was free in this hotel. That´s nice, don´t you think?

We were heading to the venue to have a show. There came two men with suits with us. They were our body guards. These guys were literally standing at our backstage door the whole time we were there. I mean, the door was open all the time. Well, you know, you have to change your stage clothes, right? Even if the men are staring at you. They just made sure that we are ok the whole time, I really appreciate it. Damn it, it was so hot to play on stage this time. My clothes were totally wet and my hair too. I moshed and I´m sure that the sweat was on our body guards. They were standing so close because the stage was so tiny. I had some problems with my pedals. Or the power supplies. Eventually we just passed my whole pedal board..The guitar sound was weakening at some times.

The entrance to the stage was really funny. The outside door was straight to the elevator and the next floor was the stage. Well, the back stage was in third floor so as we were heading to the backstage by elevator the fans in the audience saw the moving elevator and started to chant. Elvis is in the house. It was totally unreal! By the way our support act Alejandro Silva just rocked the place. I mean he´s really good. He´s doing this instrumental stuff like myself. But actually this guy can play :-)

The show went ok excluding the minor technical problems I had. After the show we met a few lucky ones again. And we got these necklaces with our name on it also. There was a terrace at the roof top of the venue. The view was straight to the ocean. It was totally cool!
Ok, after we got back to the hotel my door lock was still not fixed. I don´t want to say broken ´cause it worked. Just not in the best possible way :-) So the “guys” decided to make my room a partying room. Since there´s no one even sleeping. Oh well, I was there myself also, but at some point I had to go to bed. I went sleeping at Marko´s. But wait: Marko had two beds so nothing happened.
And finally I have this strange looking building. I don´t know what it is, but if someone knows please tell me.

Hehehe, well, I understand the hotel was booked full since there's this kinda 'important' festival in Viña del Mar (very close to Valparaíso). And that building is the National Parliament/Congress as the guys above said :) Poor you about the broken lock though. Good that Marko hosted you :P

Good luck in Argentina, guys! It was so nice to see you here. I'm so sad you're all leaving though...come back soon!
